Sometimes we need to press pause.
As it's been a while since my last blog, I thought I'd give you a little update on what I've been doing and a sneak peek into some exciting new things I have coming up.
Like a lot of people, all my plans for this year were thrown up in the air once the pandemic hit. Lockdown meant I had to press pause on elements of my business and couldn't be on social media as much as I used to be. I had no childcare, so trying to work as well as look after my daughter often left me doing an endless juggle and I really felt that I needed to protect my mental health.
I never in a million years thought that lockdown would have lasted so long or that we’d still be in this place now. BUT it's not all doom and gloom: looking at the positives, I got to spend more time with my daughter and as I knew she’d be starting big school soon, I really treasured this time and enjoyed the months in the garden and English seaside visits.
She’s now started school (a little later than usual due to Covid but she’s there now) and has settled in amazingly. It then took me a couple of weeks to just focus on ‘me’ again and try and find a routine. I’m happy to say that I’m slowly finding my feet.
I’m excited about my small business, and nervous... In lots of ways I feel like I’m starting again, but I did use these last few months as extra thinking time to create lots of new ideas, designs and products for Lubelu London. I also have some big plans for The Brush Lettering Club that I can’t wait to share. I'm so excited for what's to come!
Thank you for your support
I was blown away by how many people got in contact after taking my Introduction to Brush Lettering workshops. From wanting to know more about how to do certain things, where to get materials, top tips, when the next (live or digital) event would be, or just for a chat. This is exactly what I wanted @thebrushletteringclub community to be like - a place where you can do this. My Christmas shop is now open and I'll soon be introducing even more new products, events and plans so follow me on Instagram to hear about them first!
Sending you all lots of love through this crazy year and tell me: have you been practicing your brush lettering during lockdown? Sam x
