Mother’s Day Thoughts
Mother’s Day feels a bit different this year, doesn't it?
Usually a day of family gatherings, that’s not so easy this year for so many of us. Everything that’s going on at the moment has put a lot of things into perspective for me. Some days I’m completely overwhelmed by everything, others it feels a little more manageable.
I know that my daughter picks up on negative atmosphere, so I’m focusing on being happy and concentrating on the day-to-day. I’m trying not to put pressure on myself and make sure that being a mum is always my top priority.
It’s tricky though, as a small business owner, these are such worrying times but I’ve been so inspired by the support on social media for (and by) other mum small biz owners, so wanted to give a shout out to them this Mother’s Day; I know we can help each other through this!
Social distancing and no pre-school has also made me think about the more practical side of things too, such as how do you entertain a toddler 24/7?? I love drawing and painting with my daughter (she wrote her name in chalk for the first time this week - proud mum moment!); right now we love to do all kinds of crafts and creating together. I find it really therapeutic and relaxing too, it’s so important to do things you both get enjoyment from. We have a few activities that we like to do together so I thought I’d share them with you and give you some inspiration for stay-at-home activities both you and your child will find fun. I’ll pop them on my social channels, so take a look soon if you're looking for a new activity.
What I keep telling myself is that our current situation isn’t forever - one day (hopefully next Mother’s Day) we’ll look back on this as a crazy, distant time and never take for granted the simple things, like being able to pop out for a Mother’s Day lunch with your family.
However you’re spending today, I hope you have a good one. Sending lots of love to you all at this very hard time.
