Just Go For It.
Recently I've been thinking about how much has changed in my life and how you never know who you are going to meet and what opportunities will come from saying yes to an event, workshop, meet up, anything!
"What am I going to do?"
"Shall I freelance?"
"Can I make my hobby into my business?"
"I need to earn money!" I am part of the All by Mama network and just as my last day at work was approaching, they shared that People Per Hour were launching a new academy for mums who wanted to get into freelancing. I have freelanced in the past but thought I'd apply to refresh my mind and join the People Per Hour platform. I was lucky and got accepted. I met a lovely copywriter who I'm still in touch with and was given Annie Ridout's book The Freelance Mum.
I read the book, loved it and followed Annie on social media. Then I launched my business Lubelu London at the beginning of the year. Annie runs online courses and I wanted to do a few, so when she launched The Robora (a personalised business coaching platform for women) I jumped at the chance. Then something nobody saw coming... the pandemic hit.
All my brush lettering workshops that I'd been working so hard on and really enjoying were cancelled. I had wanted to create an online version of them for a while. I was going to do it eventually but this made me speed things up.
I did Annie's "How to launch a successful online course" course. I'd highly recommend it. It's really in depth and gets you thinking about everything. I'm proof it works! I'm now set up with my Online Brush Lettering Course as of two weeks ago. I still can't believe it. I was also able to do my bit for the NHS by creating my first range of charity prints, they are rainbow designs with 50% of sales going to the NHS Covid-19 Urgent Appeal. These are just some of my little stories as I've met so many wonderful people that have really helped me and been my cheerleaders. I've learnt that it's so important to surround yourself with people that lift you up, believe in you and celebrate your wins with you. And most importantly - just go for it! I'd love to know if you have any plans at the moment or what you're planning on doing next. Let me know!
